This catalogue for an exhibition of work by Eulalia Valldosera at the Reina Sofía Museum is divided into four main sections: photographs of the artist’s work, the texts that form part of the work, critical analysis, and a complete, detailed catalogue of the featured pieces. The entire publication is printed in black and white to emphasise that the aim is simply to catalogue the work, which is impossible to faithfully reproduce.

El ombligo del mundo

Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía

According to Eulàlia Valldosera, this book ‘recovers not my initial years, but my years of initiation.’ It was published by the Reina Sofía Museum to accompany a retrospective of the Catalan artist’s work. The book is treated as a kind of archive, which, in addition to works by the artist, presents quotations, reflections, excerpts from various materials and research work, creative processes, etc. The format, asymmetric typographic composition, distribution of works, and other aspects of the publication seek to highlight the work shown and underscore its value, as well as giving a sense of order and rhythm to the reading of the book’s pages.
