Generalitat de Catalunya

Design of graphic applications for an exhibition held at Barcelona’s Palau Robert to mark the 30th anniversary of the return from exile of Catalan President Josep Tarradellas. The visual code used plays with the typographic diversity and impact of the 70s, accompanied by patterns that were in fashion at the time.

A Floating World

Fundació "la Caixa"

For the exhibition our goal was to be as low-profile as possible in relation to the photographs exhibited while taking a bold visual approach in relation to the space. We created points of colour to separate the sections of the exhibition and organise the information displayed. All the information presented on the same plane as the photographs was in grey text on a white background; we only used colour on the panels set perpendicular to the walls. In terms of the typography, information is presented in four formats: wall labels (A5 size), quotations (grey text on the wall surface), texts for each section of the exhibition (methacrylate panels), and volumetric typography (used to create letters that project from the wall surface to varying degrees). Overall, the aim was to heighten the whiteness and luminosity in order to create a sense of lightness, order, and respect for the work.

Apropa't a la ciència

Generalitat de Catalunya

Within the framework of this complete graphic design project, we created everything from a font consistent with the exhibition design to the last communication element. The key graphic elements are the typography, pure colours, the use of pixels in the treatment of photos, and rationality of form. The graphic components are combined to create a logical flow of communication and serve as building blocks for the design of many different pieces. The modular font is constructed out of pieces, like the tubes that lead visitors around the exhibition. The basis for its design is the skeleton of a cursive font, a distinctive feature that makes the font resemble handwriting. Though we were conscious of the risk involved in working with a non-standard font, we felt it was essential to reflect the exhibition’s focus on research and innovation.

Lluís Cercós

Vilafranca del Penedès Council

Architecture and graphics for a retrospective on the work of Lluís Cercós. The space re-creates the structure of the flat where the deceased painter lived. Graphic elements are painted directly on the bare plasterboard and relate harmoniously to the work exhibited.

National Design Prizes

BCD Foundation

The exhibition was intended to showcase the culture of design and contrast it with the ‘design’ culture propagated by the media. Communication is based on coloured cubes (like the architecture of the exhibition) printed over press cuttings featuring ‘design’ news. The space is divided into three areas (designers, users and companies), each identified by a particular colour range. The colours are the same ones used to organise information in the exhibition catalogue.
